The Italian Association of Thoracic Oncology (AIOT) was founded in July 2007 in order to improve knowledge and research in the field of thoracic oncology in Italy, through the collaboration of oncologists, radiotherapists, surgeons and researchers. The aim of the association is to create a platform for cultural and scientific discussion among the different professional trainers who play an important part in the diagnostic and therapeutic runs. A further aim is to support and increase clinical research and medical training.
The AIOT is also actively involved with the Italian School of Thoracic Oncology (SIOT) located in Frascati, Rome in the wonderful area of Castelli Romani, as well as in the organization of highly qualified educational events. Moreover with 380 members, the AIOT is currently setting up an international board of key opinion leaders.
